The organizers of the prestigious Badiar Arts Festival (Festab), announced through a press briefing this Saturday September 9, 2023 the holding of the said festival scheduled for December 13 to 16, 2023 in Koundara. On the menu for the second edition, several activities including training on ethnic diversity, peace and social cohesion, young entrepreneurship, and awareness-raising on the dangers of illegal immigration.
According to the general commissioner of the Festival, M’wagué Djibril, the Festab is an artistic and cultural activity which testifies to the richness of the cultural heritage of Koundara in its entirety. This second edition of the Badiar Arts Festival, called FESTAB2, will be held from December 13 to 16, 2023, in Koundara.
Many activities are planned on the Festab2 menu. It is :
-The popularization of the ethnic and linguistic diversity of the prefecture;
-The recognition of certain communities whose cultures, although very authentic, still remain ignored at the national level;
-The promotion of these communities whose members experience enormous difficulties in obtaining administrative documents (national identity card, passport, birth certificate and other certificates) and their emergence in Guinean society;
-The promotion of peace and peaceful cohabitation;
-The promotion of children’s schooling;
-Protection of the environment and promotion of biodiversity;
-Awareness raising on immigration and training on young entrepreneurship and respect for gender.
Added to this is an exhibition fair which will be open for 8 days from December 25, 2023, a way to allow artisans to sell and make a profit.
The prefecture of Koundara is located in the northwest of Guinea, it is bordered to the east by the prefecture of Mali, to the north by the Republic of Senegal, to the west by Guinea Bissau and to the south by the prefecture of Gaoual. It covers an area of 5,500 km2 for a population of 129,974 inhabitants. The population is distributed between 6 Rural Communes and one Urban Commune. It is a cosmopolitan prefecture bringing together more than ten ethnic groups.
