Batting first following losing the toss, India got off to a dream start with skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. Both faced Pakistan’s renowned pacers fearlessly. Gill was more dangerous on the powerplay. Rohit started with a policy-making six once morest Shaheen Afridi in the very first over of the match. The decision to play attacking rather than trying to defend was executed beautifully by the openers.

Shaheen Afridi was the first to warm the bat of the openers. Later, Shadab Khan was attacked by Rohit Sharma. Pakistan’s Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf bowled well to some extent but to no avail. Rohit and Gill added 121 runs for the first wicket. Rohit scored 56 runs and Gill scored 51 runs.
When the match was stopped, Virat Kohli with 8 runs and KL Rahul with 17 runs were at the crease. In the meantime, when the rain eased a little, an attempt was made to start the match. But the wet outfield proved challenging. The match was shortened to 34 overs when the rain came once more. With this, the umpires decided to shift the match to the reserve day.
