The group 2PM returned to the stage to celebrate its 15th anniversary.
High-level acrobatics such as tumbling and human tower building by the ‘original beast idols’ who represented the second generation idol group also returned.
This is 2PM’s solo concert ‘It’s 2PM’ held at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Seoul on the 10th to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their debut. This is the first solo concert in 6 years since ‘6Nights’ in June 2017, and all seats were sold out early.
The concert on this day began with an unaccompanied live performance of member Jun.K’s ‘I’ll Be Back’. It was a fitting opening for the first full-length concert in six years due to the members’ military service and solo and acting activities.
The six members of 2PM performed a vivid live performance where even the trembling of their breath might be heard, while also excitingly dancing the famous shuffle dance point choreography of ‘Isn’t It Be Back’.
2PM then continued to release exciting hit songs such as ‘JUMP’, ‘Aren’t you crazy?’, and ‘Hands Up’. The atmosphere in the venue heated up without even needing to warm up, and sweat beaded on the members’ foreheads following just one or two songs. With dazzling laser lights swirling around the stage, the members’ overflowing excitement continued into an unconventional ‘free dance’. One crazy stage following another with no time to catch your breath.
Member Jang Woo-young said, “I’ve waited too long, right? I’m so sorry. I’ve been standing in front of you all since 2017 (following 6 years),” and Lee Jun-ho said, “We held a concert to celebrate our 15th anniversary, and I’m sincerely grateful that so many fans showed up. “Thank you,” he said.
Jun. K played the title song of his 7th album, ‘I Have to Do It’, which came out in 2021, and said, “I had to put out (a new song) quickly, I had to put it out, and then ‘I have to do it’ came out.” He added, “At that time, due to COVID-19, we were not able to show fans on music broadcasts. “Because I mightn’t meet them, I was able to show this song only at the concert,” he said.
2PM, which debuted in 2008 with ’10 out of 10′, has hit songs such as ‘Again & Again’, ‘Heart Beat’, and ‘Without You’. It was very popular not only in Korea but also in Asia, including Japan. The difficult choreography that fits well with the nickname ‘Beast Idol’ was their trademark.
In recent years, the members have mainly been active in TV dramas and entertainment programs, including Lee Jun-ho’s huge popularity with MBC’s ‘Red Sleeves’.
Before singing the hit song ‘Again & Again’, Ok Taecyeon introduced, “Now it’s time to show you everything regarding 2PM, where you have to dance until your bones break.” Lee Jun-ho said with an overwhelmed expression, “This is a song that clearly shows that 2PM is a performance group. I got goosebumps from the moment I heard the prelude.”
As 2PM began performing their representative song ‘Heartbeat’ with a solemn expression, the atmosphere in the hall reached its peak. The members, now in their mid-30s, built a ‘human tower’ just like they did back in 2009, and Taecyeon tore off her shirt as the song ended. The powerful live performance that resonated loudly made the stage shine even more.
Ms. Kim, a fan who visited the concert hall with her husband in Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do, said, “It seems like the members prepared a lot with sincerity because it was the 15th anniversary concert.” She added, “The members’ expressiveness, emotions, and skills have become richer than 15 years ago, and thanks to that, “The old songs sounded attractive and not boring. If I get a chance, I want to see them once more,” he said.
2PM will continue the excitement with a solo concert at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan on the 7th and 8th of next month.
“I guess I have to rip my clothes when I say 2PM. Haha. I think the fans who have been with us for 15 years are also here, and I sincerely thank you for the long time.” (Lee Jun-ho)
“2PM will continue in the future. We will continue to work harder and become a great 2PM.” (Nichkhun)
