“With the old submarine cable commissioned in 2012 under the name West African Cables System (Wacs), with a starting capacity of 5.12 Terabits/s increased today to 14.5 Terabits/s. second telecommunications backbone, the essential foundation of the very high-speed network, in turn commits the Congo to continuing the development of the digital economy,” indicated the Congolese minister.
The construction of the new backbone network will serve Pointe-Noire, Brazzaville and other cities in the country. It will improve the speed and reliability of electronic communications, facilitate trade and access to international markets while encouraging the emergence of startups, but also strengthen Congo’s participation in the global digital economy.
According to the Post and Electronic Communications Regulatory Agency (Arpce), the “2 Africa” optical fiber, considered the latest generation cable, offers wider coverage of the African continent with a range of 45,000 km wide covering more than 30 countries. Africans.
