The Linz-AG ice arena is regarding to become a fortress. At least in preparation for the season. After the tests once morest Nove Zamky (4:2) and Bad Nauheim (5:0), the Steinbach Black Wings Linz also won once morest the Straubing Tigers – albeit narrowly 3:2 following a shootout.
The Black Wings started well, the guests from the DEL had to help themselves with a number of fouls, especially at the beginning. Already in the fourth minute of the game, Matt MacKenzie took advantage of one of these numerical superiority opportunities and scored to make it 1-0 (4th/pp2). Just five minutes later, the disc was once once more in the net behind the Straubing goalie. Graham Knott scored – once more in the majority – to make it 2-0 (10./pp). Practically immediately, the guests also wrote for the first time, and Marcel Müller made it 2-1 with a follow-up shot.
After Rasmus Tirronen made two successful attacks for Linz in the middle section in dire need, he was powerless when Marcel Brandt made a follow-up shot in the 35th minute.
