A medical team in the Najran region (southern Saudi Arabia) was able to perform urgent surgical intervention to save the life of a nine-month pregnant patient whose heart stopped for 3 minutes during a caesarean section that took two hours.
“Saudi Health” explained that the cardiac anesthesia team at the “Prince Sultan Heart Center” at the “Maternity and Children’s Hospital” received a patient suffering from cardiomyopathy, and the clinical examination showed a severe acceleration of the pulse, which led to her heart stopping, so the team decided to intervene urgently by administering shocks. An electrician used to save her life in the last moments. After her condition stabilized, she was transferred to the operations department, where she underwent a caesarean section and gave birth to her baby, who is in good health.
The medical team confirmed that the patient was transferred to the inpatient department until she and her newborn left the hospital.
In a separate context, the Saudi Health Ministry inaugurated the medical transportation center in the Yabreen Center on the outskirts of the Empty Quarter desert.
The center, affiliated with Al-Ahsa Health Cluster (eastern Saudi Arabia), aims to provide ambulance transportation services to patients in the Yabreen Center and the surrounding remote desert areas, and to handle emergency cases and accidents on the highway that cuts through the desert.
The Saudi Health Ministry added that the center was supported by private ambulances equipped with the latest medical equipment to care for patients during transportation and respond quickly in emergency situations. This step comes as a continuation of the expansion of the operation of medical transportation centers in the region, which currently number 6 centers.
