In Arlon, the “Pré en Bulles” children’s home welcomes young people aged 3 to 18. Young people whose parents are experiencing difficulties and who must then live outside the family environment. This institution is approved by youth aid. Its organizing power is the CPAS of Arlon.
For older children approaching the age of majority, it is important to prepare them to acquire a certain autonomy because at 18 they will have to leave the institution and live alone.
This is why “Pré en Bulles” has just inaugurated its first tiny house, a small house of 30 square meters for young people who are in a learning dynamic for their future majority. This tiny house is located right next to the institution, which makes support easier. ” Before, most young people who might not return to their families, to prepare them for autonomy, they went to live in a dormitory in the city before their 18th birthday. But we have often observed that directly leaving a community life here at Pré en Bulles to find yourself alone in a kot in town, despite the support, something was missing. Here the tiny house was thought of as being a transitional phase between community life in the institution and the kot later “, explains Vincent Louis, director of “Pré en Bulles”.
” If the young person has questions or feels alone, we are really there, it’s great support “, adds Anne – Sophie Adam, social worker at the institution.
The tiny house was financed by the organizing authority, namely the CPAS of Arlon and by numerous donations from club services and others. A second tiny house will be built in early 2024.
