McDonald’s Shrinkflation: Big Tasty Burger Reduced in Size, Fans Furious

McDonald’s fans are angry. More and more brands and companies are using a particular technique: reducing the quantity, without changing the price. This is called “shrinkflation”.

The American chain used this technique for its Big Tasty burger. McDonald’s flagship dish has been praised by consumers: “It allows you to reduce the size of the sandwich without changing the price!” And above all without communicating (so) clear and visible,” wrote a user on X (formerly Twitter).

Another wrote: “A month of September which is off to a very bad start.”

The Parisian was able to get his hands on documents which confirm the reduction in size of the sandwich. The Big Tasty also has fewer calories: 868 before compared to 663 now. The document specifies: “If your teams and customers have questions, highlight that these new formats retain the iconic taste of the Big Tasty by allowing us to cover all appetites with an even larger and more delicious two-meat version, and a version a meat for more moderate appetites.” McDonald’s would have anticipated the criticism linked to this change.

“We have evolved the Big Tasty recipe with a new bread and the possibility of choosing an option with one or two meats. The evolution of this recipe, not comparable with the old one, profoundly changes the perception of the product, now higher and more customizable,” explains the American chain.
