This Friday morning, it’s a cleaning operation in a vacant lot located next to the Seraing recyparc. The workers must also dislodge the squatters. “You must leave!“, says a worker to a person lying behind materials.
During the night, the places are used for drug consumption, and even prostitution. This situation pushed the manager, Intradel, to close the site. “It is up to them (the workers) to dispose of the tools, in quotation marks, linked to drug consumption, that is to say the syringes, which is obviously not safe. ) neither for eco-guides nor for citizens. Because it might very well happen that a citizen who comes here in sandals injects himself with a syringe that remains“, explains Jean-Jacques De Paoli, spokesperson for Intradel.
“The level of anxiety rises as soon as we ask ourselves the question of knowing, once I wake up this person to put them outside, where they have finally taken up residence in the recyparc, how will they react?“, adds the spokesperson.
The mayor says she is looking for solutions
The mayor of Seraing tells us that she is aware of the situation and is looking for solutions. “There are things we can do in support, to help them, to put them in touch with the different actors in the region.
