Kishida called for maintaining and strengthening the “dominance of law.” He also stated that “it is important to achieve a harmonious international community that does not decouple or confront each other.” He showed his opposition to attempts and economic threats to unilaterally change the status quo through force.

Kishida also introduced the discharge of nuclear treated water from Tokyo Electric Power’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant into the sea. Citing a report from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), he stressed that there was no scientific problem.

Kishida also talked regarding the action plan to achieve a “nuclear-free world” and the “Hiroshima Action Plan”, saying that “realistic and feasible measures are being taken.”

On the one hand, according to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 7th, Chinese Premier Li Qiang had a brief conversation and meeting speech with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Jakarta: “Explain China’s position on the issue of Japan’s Fukushima nuclear contaminated water discharge into the sea,” and also said: ” We should take the 45th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between China and Japan as an opportunity to promote the improvement and development of relations between the two countries.”

Mao Ning, spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, answered relevant questions at the press conference that day. It is said that Li Qiang also said in his speech: “We hope that Japan and China will meet each other halfway, learn from history, and face the future.”
