Symptoms like hay fever: Local allergic rhinitis is dangerous
Local allergic rhinitis (LAR) is an allergic disease that results from an immune response. It is very similar to the widespread hay fever. Those affected suffer from the following symptoms:

Unlike hay fever, the immune response in LAR is limited to the nasal mucosa. This makes it particularly difficult to diagnose. The skin prick test is the most well-known allergy test procedure in which allergen-containing solutions are dripped onto the forearm. Depending on the skin reaction, an allergy can be identified.
Local allergic rhinitis or hay fever? symptoms and diagnosis
The diagnosis of local allergic rhinitis is therefore tricky, but not impossible. If LAR is suspected, a nasal provocation test can be performed. The reason: the specific immunoglobulins (IgE) and pro-inflammatory messenger substances can only be detected in LAR in the nasal secretion.
Possible triggers are brought directly to the nose in order to trigger an allergic reaction. Dust mites are among the most common, especially since they occur year-round.
