Overwatch League 2024: Will It Be Run by Third-Party Convenors? Latest Updates and Speculations

2023-09-07 10:38:39

Lately, we’ve seen a number of different official esports leagues wanting to be run by third-party convenors rather than publishers of the games themselves. Most recently, the competitive Rainbow Six: Siege was run by BLAST, and if the latest report from GGRecon is anything to go by, the Overwatch League might be next to join the fray. Amid the turmoil of this season, teams were asked to vote on whether the league should return in 2024 and beyond, or receive a $6 million termination fee, now referring to the 2024 season, which, if it goes ahead, will be run by a third-party convener. It is mentioned in the report that ESL FACEIT Group will take over the business in North America and Europe, and WDG Esports will be in charge of the Asian business. However, since none of this has been confirmed by Activision Blizzard, it’s worth treating this information with caution. Would you like to see the OWL come back next year and be run by a third party?
