We introduce you to the cinema highlights of this week.
An initiation story is coming to theaters and provides a realistic insight into healthcare.
A new part has appeared in a well-known film series – it will be Greek.
“Wise man”
19-year-old Léopold Beyé (Melvin Boomer) lives with his father (Steve Tientcheu) and his three brothers in a Paris suburb. He applied to study medicine, but failed the entrance exam. In order to be able to become a doctor at some point, he decides to first complete midwifery school – his family knows neither regarding the failed exam nor regarding his plans.
So he starts without motivation at the university hospital. Among the midwives, he has to accept the exclusively female milieu. Right from the start of his new job, he is bothered by the color of his cassock – it is pink and Léopold would like a blue one. However, these are reserved for the doctors. At first he was not convinced by the profession, but over time he learned to overcome the clichés associated with the midwifery profession. This also works with the help of the passionate, at times rough head of the midwives, Nathalie Martini (Karin Viard).
Reviews say the tragic comedy is full of beautiful values, but that doesn’t make it a smooth film. You learn a lot regarding the profession of midwifery, which is why the job title also applies to men and you even see a real birth. The piece spares the viewers nothing, the good, the bad and the worst aspects of the healthcare industry are presented in an unembellished way.

After a seven-year break, the third film regarding the turbulent Greek family Portokalos appears. In the second part, the family history of Toula and Ian continues – they now have a daughter, Paris.
Now, in the third part, it goes back to the family history: Gus, Toula’s father, has passed away. His last wish was for the family to remember their roots. So the whole group flies to Greece and experiences a lot on their journey. The protagonists experience a lot of love, trials and tribulations – as one is used to from the first two parts.
