The Superior Council of the National University of San Juan unanimously approved this followingnoon the Medicine career, a milestone for public education in San Juan. It will be taught from 2024 and the study plan is already there.
The approval of the new and demanded career generated a climate of joy within the venue where the Council was in session.
One of the things that were defined is that the professionals that are trained have a social, community profile, in tune with the needs of the majority of citizens.
The study plan must be reviewed by the National Commission for University Evaluation and Accreditation (CONEAU), seeking the final OK for its implementation. Due to the expectation that it generates in young people, it is worth clarifying that the registration dates, the course and whether there will be a quota have not yet been defined.
The director of the EUCS, Angel Pinto, was in charge of presenting the project to the members of the team, some of whom expressed themselves regarding the importance of creating Medicine, in a province where 50% of the population depends almost exclusively on of public health, and where the relationship between the number of doctors and the number of population is lower than the national average.
Emphasis was also placed on the fact that it is not just a question of “increasing the number of doctors, but of giving a concrete response to the care of the prevalent pathologies in the community”. In this sense, the fact of the profile of training, aimed at strengthening prevention and health promotion, through a new innovative pedagogical model.
