The percentage of Brazilians who lack basic digital skills it’s from 76%. This is the assessment of Artur Coimbra, who is a director at the National Telecommunications Agency. In this way, the scenario became a cause for concern on the part of the body, in the speech of the representative during the participation in the event “Huawei 25 Years“.
According to Coimbra, the government should draw up strategies with technology companies to increase the Brazilian population’s level of knowledge regarding the potential of this world. The data presented by him are from the Interamerican Development Bank (BID).
According to the numbers, the situation is well below the Latin American average, which is 29% in relation to basic digital skills. Compared to the countries of Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), which rises to 64%. In case, only 24% of Brazilians have these skills.
The scenario gets even worse if we take into account intermediate skills, which only 11% of the Brazilian population has mastered, well below 21% in Latin America and 40% in the OECD. Moisés Moreira is also an Anatel advisor and commented on the situation:
This measure still depends on Anatel, a resolution has been approved, but we have to wait because to overthrow this Anatel needs a motivation. I believe these conversations will continue in due course.
To reverse this scenario, the agency is looking for partnerships with private companies that have the knowledge of the technology so that they can collaborate with the improvement of contact channels with the population to distribute this type of knowledge.
One of these companies is Huawei itself and the two parties have even gone so far as to discuss the importance of IPv6 and its use to implement a digital transformation in Brazil.
