They were all there. All the presidents of Flemish parties were gathered on Monday evening on the stage of the shiny Henry Le Boeuf hall in Bozar, at the invitation of the employers’ organization Voka for its “Back to school 2023”. All but one: Conner Rousseau.
Alongside Raoul Hedebouw (PTB-PVDA), Nadia Naji (co-president of Groen with Jeremie Vaneeckhout), Tom Ongena (at the head of the Open VLD pending the congress on September 23), Sammy Mahdi (CD&V), Bart De Wever (N-VA) and Tom Van Grieken (Vlaams Belang), stood rather… Bruno Tobback (Vooruit, therefore). The latter – former federal minister, ex-president of the then sp.a and now Flemish parliamentarian – is far from unknown. But between the six other presidents, his presence still recalled the absence of that of his training.
