Introducing ‘Ifada’: Bahrain’s New E-Commerce Stamping System to Regulate Platforms and Prevent Fraud

Manama: Minister of Commerce and Industry Abdullah bin Adil Fakhru announced in a press conference that the e-commerce stamping system ‘Ifada’ has been launched. The Minister said that ‘Ifada’ will help regulate e-commerce platforms and their related activities and reduce fraud in this sector.

E-commerce is one of the priorities of the initiatives aimed at developing and strengthening the digital economy in Bahrain. The Ministry is giving priority to the digitalization of the commercial sector. It helps prevent fraud, corruption and embezzlement and enables transparent transactions. The e-commerce stamping method is named ‘Ifada’. This enables e-commerce platforms to perform registration without paying a fee.

He added that this will give more power to e-commerce, increase the confidence of consumers, give incentives to companies operating in this sector and increase the confidence of consumers. The ‘Ifada’ seal can be obtained by fulfilling several requirements including an active commercial registry, an active e-commerce store/platform, a secure electronic payment method, a clear return and exchange policy, an active shopping cart and a delivery service for customers.
