The Ministry of Commerce and the main automotive terminal companies that work in Argentina reached an agreement to keep the prices of certain 0 km vehicle models unchanged until October 31, according to official sources.

The agreement allows the companies, as a counterpart, access to imports to regularize the production of their finished units for sale.

“At the direction of Minister Sergio Massa, we reached an agreement with the automotive companies so that each terminal selects a 0 km model that will maintain its fixed price until October 31,” said the head of Commerce, Matías Tombolini, in a message through from your account on the social network Twitter.

“Volkswagen, Toyota, Ford, Nissan, General Motors, Peugeot-Citroen, FCA Automobiles and Renault have already joined, which in a shared effort with the Argentine State, accompany this agreement that aims to take care of our national production and sustain consumption”, added the statement.

Production and export of units



In August, national vehicle production reached 63,455 units,
17.4% more than the same month of 2022 and 28.8% above July, reported the Association of Automotive Factories (Adefa).

In the accumulated of the first eight months of the year, production was 408,486 vehicles, with an increase of 19.5% compared to the 341,788 units in the same period of 2022.

For his part, exports in August had an improvement of 0.7% compared to July and a decrease of 11.1% year-on-year.

When comparing the first eight months of 2023 with respect to the same period of 2022, sales of domestic vehicles abroad grew 7.2%.

Another novelty that became known recently was the new luxury tax scales, a notification that was late in its publication and that delayed the September price lists of local automakers.

The first scale will apply from September and until the end of November a 20% for vehicles whose factory price exceeds $7,345,883.65; amount amounting to $10.5 million retail price for the same unit and the second scale that is 35%, for vehicles those that are above $13,561,631.35; either $19.3 million, retail price.
