After a long wait and leaks that shocked the entire audio community, Sonos has finally unveiled the Sonos Move 2. The brand continues to expand its range. This time around, the Move 2 offers even more new features than expected.

The wait has been long, curiosity at its peak, especially following the important revelations that leaked this summer. But the anticipation has come to an end. Sonos presents its latest innovation, the Sonos Move 2, thus expanding its already coveted range.

A little throwback: the original Move
Before diving into the new features of the Move 2, let’s take a quick look back at its predecessor, the Sonos Move. The latter, unveiled in 2019, marked a turning point for the brand.

Presented as a battery-powered speaker, it was able to work in Wi-Fi while connecting to the Sonos ecosystem, but might also be used in Bluetooth outside the home. However, with a significant weight, it was not really portable, but rather described as transportable. If it was a great success for Sonos, a few downsides, in particular its weight and price, were to be noted.
The notable advances of the Move 2
Spatiality and versatility of sound
First, the Sonos Move 2 has been given a redesigned acoustic architecture. Thanks to a double tweeter, it promises a stereo sound experience wider and more spacious.
However, the stereo experience should be restricted, as the speakers are too close together, potentially compromising the spatialization and separation of sound channels.

But the progress does not stop there. Sonos announces removable battery life of up to up to 24 hours »an impressive capacity of 44 Wh.

Most ? This battery, in addition to the fact that it is powered via USB-C, can also serve as a power source for other devices (like a smartphone). For those who prefer wired connections, an adapter is available for an audio source via auxiliary cable, thus expanding the possibilities of use.

The Sonos Move 2 integrates into an existing audio ecosystem. But, thanks to Bluetooth technology, you can now easily pair your Move 2 with another speaker of the same model, creating an immersive stereo set.
Robust design and adaptability
In terms of design and robustness, Sonos has not done things by halves. The Move 2 has been designed to withstand shocks, falls, rain and other climatic hazards thanks to an IP56 classification. Add to that UV and extreme temperature resistance, this speaker is clearly designed for outdoor use.

And to top it all, automatic Trueplay technology has been integrated. This feature allows the speaker to adapt in real time to its environment to provide the best sound quality, without the need for a smartphone.

Ergonomics and aesthetics
Design enthusiasts will not be left out. In addition to a redesigned touch interface for more intuitive use, the Move 2 is now available in several colors: Olive, Black, and White.

However, it remains as imposing as ever with its 3 kg (battery included) and its dimensions of 241 x 160 x 127 mm.
An eye on the technical specifications
Under the hood, the Move 2 is equipped with three Class-D digital amplifiers, two tweeters and a midwoofer. It also has microphones for voice control and adjustment Trueplay. On the connectivity side, the speaker is compatible with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, thus ensuring solid and fast connectivity. The Sonos Move 2 also supports Apple AirPlay 2.
With all these advances and improvements, the Sonos Move 2 will be available from September 20, 2023 in France at a price of 499 euros. If this amount remains high, it should be noted that the price remains unchanged compared to the previous version, a positive point in an economic context marked by inflation.
