Bedridden, shirtless, Mathieu Kassovitz, 56, spoke from his hospital room in a message posted on his Instagram account.
“Thank you very much, I didn’t know I had so many friends, it’s nice,” he said, explaining that he had “fallen off his motorcycle, stupid”.
“I broke my femur and my ankle. I am in rehabilitation,” he adds.

The actor was injured on September 3 during a motorcycle driving refresher course at the Linas-Montlhéry autodrome (Essonne). An investigation to find the causes of the injuries was opened by the Evry prosecutor’s office.
He made a sensational entry into the world of cinema in 1995 with the film in black and white hate which he himself directed, on the malaise of the suburbs and police violence, which revealed in particular the actor Vincent Cassel. This film-event will earn him a prize at Cannes.
As an actor, Mathieu Kassovitz – “Kasso” for his friends – has shot dozens of films (A very discreet hero by Jacques Audiard Amen of Costa-Gavras, etc.). He played for Jean-Pierre Jeunet in the fabulous destiny of Amelie Poulain and even tried the Hollywood adventure (Gothika) in the 2000s.
After years of ups and downs, he returned to the fore in 2015 thanks to director Eric Rochant, who entrusted him with the role of Guillaume Debailly, alias Malotru, a secret agent torn between his duty and the love of a woman. A subtle role in a series that enjoyed success for five seasons, punctuated by geopolitical news.
In the cinema, Mathieu Kassovitz is this Wednesday on the poster of Visions by Yann Gozlan, alongside actress Diane Kruger.
