Highway Collision Near Suarlée: Van Accident & Lab Mice Rescue

Around 9 p.m. this Tuesday evening, an impressive collision between two vans occurred on the E42 near Suarlée. Two vans traveling on the right lane towards Namur have, for an undetermined reason, collided.

In shock, one of them ended up on the side. Inside were more than 1,000 laboratory mice destined to be sent to Germany. Luckily the van didn’t open and the rodents stayed inside. A company was called to pick them up.

Firefighters and paramedics from the Val de Sambre area, under the orders of Sergeant Demeure, went to the scene. The driver of the van on the side was slightly injured and taken to the CHRSM of Namur. The two occupants of the other van are unharmed but the damage to their vehicle is substantial. The back being ripped open, they risked losing the contents.

Traffic has been reduced on the motorway towards Namur. – L.MU.

Traffic was somewhat disrupted for part of the evening, while the convenience store Cassart evacuated the vehicles and the Namur road police drew up the usual report.
