The Ville Haute district in Charleroi will be inaugurated this weekend with great fanfare following several years of work. If the Place du Manège will no longer be accessible to parked cars, the City of Charleroi has ensured that the supply of parking spaces is sufficient, said Tuesday the Charleroi Alderman for Mobility, Xavier Desgain.
According to him, it is thus some 1,750 parking spaces strictly speaking which will be accessible within the perimeter, on spaces which already existed or which have emerged thanks to the work of reconfiguration of the district, started with the Charleroi rehabilitation project. DC.
Among the new spaces, there is in particular a car park with 200 paid spaces, set up in place of the old Roullier tunnel. On its own, it will compensate for the parking spaces, also paying, present in the past on the place du Manège, indicated the alderman carolo.
The new exhibition center, which will be inaugurated soon, will also provide two parking spaces, arranged in halls that have become too large for the current standards of such buildings. Some 550 paid parking spaces are located there.
A thousand free parking spaces are also available in car parks P1 and P2 of the exhibition centre. “From there, we are barely 250 meters from the entrance to the town hall”, underlined Xavier Desgain.
