Two student athletes from High School, nine from Professional and one from Cetys Mexicali made up the Women’s Flag team that represented this educational institution this weekend in San Diego, California in the United States, obtaining first place in two different categories.
Those led by headcoach Alann Salas Olmedo and his assistant Andrés Gutiérrez participated in the San Diego Open USA Flag 2023 in the 5v5 Air-It-Out Women’s Open and 5v5 Non Contact Women’s Open categories, competing 12 times on the same day once morest American and Mexican teams, managing to climb to the top of the podium in both categories.
For Headcoach Salas, this tournament provides the opportunity to compete internationally and use it as preparation for future commitments that the team will have during the 2023-2024 competition cycle.
ALMOST PERFECT STEP
In the 5v5 Air-It-Out Women’s Open category, the Zorros de Cetys Mexicali women’s team began by drawing at 13 once morest Lady Revolution from Sacramento, California, to later win all their matches: A Altitude Sickness from Denver, Colorado 21-6, Lady Revolution 26-25, Osas de Tijuana 19-0, in the semifinals 12-6 to Mixed Breeds of Rancho Cucamonga and in the final they defeated Game Changer of Dallas Texas 20-7.
In the 5v5 Non Contact Women’s Open, Cetys Mexicali won all their matches starting 32-20 once morest The Drip from Phoenix, Arizona, 19-13 once morest Game Changer from Dallas, Texas, 31-20 once morest The Drip, 35-6 once morest BOB from Savannah, Georgia, 13-12 to She-Unit of Los Angeles, California and 12-7 to Osas de Tijuana.
