The 13-year-old Aibek Choletibek has already won many honors following just two years on the ski field.

Earlier this year, he specialized in cross-country skiing and won the first place in Group B in the youth cross-country skiing competition of the first Winter Games in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

“My physical fitness and technique are great.” He proudly told reporters. It was precisely because of his outstanding physical condition and dedication and hard work that he was caught by the coach of the Burqin County Amateur Sports School in Xinjiang, Yerlebek Mulatihan.

Ayibek’s home is in the small town of Kostek at the foot of the Altai Mountains, a certain distance from Burqin County. To improve himself, he made a pair of wooden skis at home. In addition to training with the coach in winter, I will also actively practice at home.

“I keep training every day. My friends are very curious following seeing it, so I will tell them that skiing is my dream.” Aibek said.

“He’s a good seed for cross-country skiing, and he also has the external environment to be a good athlete.” Yerlebek said.

Driven by the Beijing Winter Olympics, since 2017, the Altay region with unique ice and snow resources has stepped up the construction of ice and snow sports venues and facilities, and accelerated the popularization and promotion of ice and snow sports. There are Jiangjun Mountain, Keketuohai, Jike There are four professional ski resorts of a certain scale in Pulin and Qinggeli Langshan, and more than four skating rinks have been established in each county (city).

As one of the 22 “traditional ice sports schools” deployed by the autonomous region in Altay, the Burqin County Amateur Sports School has established professional training teams such as speed skating and cross-country skiing. The atmosphere for local teenagers to participate in ice and snow sports has become increasingly strong. Like Aibek, a few students in a class who walk in front will drive the whole class to the ice rink and snow rink.

“Ice and snow sports equipment is not cheap, but children don’t need to spend a penny, and the government provides funds and equipment support.” Yerlebek said.

What makes the predecessors envious is that Aibike has had plenty of opportunities to go out to participate in competitions since he was a child. Altay, Yili, Bozhou… In just two years, his participation footprints have spread all over Xinjiang, and he has been able to compete in competitions once more and once more. Improve rapidly.

“The strength of the opponents is very strong. Through the competition, I can discover my own shortcomings and focus on improving them in training.” Aibek said.

The growth of Ai Buick and his friends has also received the attention of more people in the industry in China.

Over the years, Jilin Province has given full play to its own advantages in supporting the frontline headquarters of Xinjiang, vigorously promoted the cooperation with the Altay region in ice and snow sports, and continued to select national-level coaches to support the training of local ice and snow talents.

At the beginning of this year, the national cross-country skiing champion came to the Altay region to demonstrate the essentials of movement skills for local coaches and young athletes. Ai Yibek was also selected as an outstanding representative to participate in the study. Every day, he will follow Lin Guanghao, an experienced Xinjiang aid coach, to the Sarkobu Cross-Country Ski Resort in Altay City for 4 hours of training.

“Cross-country skiing technology is constantly upgrading and developing. I hope to improve the professional level of local coaches and athletes through my words and deeds.” Lin Guanghao said.

Forming the correct concept of exercise is the solid foundation of everything. In the sports science lecture of the 2023 “Sports Community” Sports Charity Carnival (Burqin Station) initiated by the National Sports Foundation of China, Li Yanhu, director of the Sports Health Medicine Research Center of the Sports Medicine Research Institute of the General Administration of Sport of China, specially explained ” Spine and Health” special course.

In Li Yanhu’s view, local coaches and children need to master scientific sports and protection methods, only in this way can they go further. “The intensity and risks of ice and snow sports are very high, and some are even challenging their own limits, so it is very important to learn scientific sports and protection.”

Aibek, who is in the northwest corner of the motherland but can continue to receive support from many parties, has already seen thousands of miles away. During the Beijing Winter Olympics, he would sit in front of the TV every day and pay attention to cross-country skiing competitions. He regards Dinigel, an athlete who is also from Altay, as a role model, and hopes to represent China in the Winter Olympics one day.

Through studying special courses, Aibike has a clearer understanding of his dream pursuit. “The body comes first. Keep fit and keep training scientifically. I believe that one day I will realize my dream.”
