On the occasion of IFA 2023, Honor unveiled the Magic V2, its new folding smartphone which intends to impose itself on this segment disputed by Samsung or Motorola.
Many smartphone manufacturers are investing in the folding smartphone segment. After the Motorola Razr 40 or the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, it’s Honor’s turn to, precisely, comply with the exercise.
On the occasion of IFA 2023, the essential high-tech show held in Berlin (Germany) until September 5, the Chinese brand unveiled the Magic V2, its latest smartphone which adopts this trend.
“It’s the thinnest folding smartphone in the world”, welcomes Frédéric Gulesserian, Commercial Director of Honor France, guest of Tech&Co at the IFA show, Monday, September 4. “It’s 9.9 mm when it’s closed. When the smartphone is open, we’re at 4.7 mm. It’s an ultra-thin and accomplished product.”
Release date still uncertain
With this terminal, Honor intends to offer a folding smartphone capable of overcoming consumer preconceptions regarding this type of device. In particular their reluctance regarding “the format, weight, thickness and characteristics” of smartphones of this ilk emphasizes Frédéric Gulesserian.
“With the Magic V2, you are going to have all the features of a premium smartphone with, for example, a 50MP camera. You can use it standardly, multitask and also watch videos. We really want investing in the territory of folding chairs”, supports Frédéric Gulesserian.
In terms of folding smartphones, finesse often rhymes with limited autonomy. Honor claims to have avoided this pitfall by integrating new technology into its latest device. “It’s a carbon battery that’s 5000 mAh. That’s the same number of mAh as on a premium smartphone. That’s more than a day of battery life. It’s better than an iPhone 14 Pro”, explains Frédéric Gulesserian.
For the moment, Honor has not given details on the marketing of Magic V2 in Europe. However, the device should arrive soon. Likewise, its price remains unknown for the moment.
