Just over a month following releasing the video instant messaging for all users, the WhatsApp is testing an option that will allow you to deactivate the resource, a function seen in the beta version of number 23.18.1.70 of the application. The action, however, does not prevent you from receiving messages of this type from other people.
According to WABetaInfo, the option can be found in the “Conversations” menu of the messenger app settings. When you activate it, you will no longer be shown the option to record video messages of up to 60 seconds when you tap the camera to record a video.
The option should be especially interesting for those who didn’t like the novelty very much and/or don’t use it often. It is very likely that this group of people only accidentally tapped the option when recording audio (microphone icon), since the two features share the same button. Thus, deactivation will allow you to avoid this inconvenience.
We can understand that testing this new option is an indication that the resource has not been so widely adopted by users, to the point of offering a way to hide it. As it is still being tested, however, there are no guarantees that it will actually be rolled out to everyone in the future.
If that happens, it should still be a few weeks before this is actually released.
