Spain’s national team defense pole and former Real Madrid football club Sergio Ramos, Monday, expressed his happiness at returning to his hometown club, Seville, following 18 years.
Ramos, whose contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired on June 30, said, “It is a very special day. Returning home is always full of happiness. Now we have to pass medical examinations.”

“I am happy to return and try to join the team as soon as possible,” added the 37-year-old, who carried the colors of Seville in the 2004-2005 season before moving to Real Madrid, where he won the Champions League four times.
And the Andalusian club announced that Ramos signed a one-year contract following passing a routine medical examination.
Ramos left Sevilla at the age of 19 to join Real Madrid for a record deal for a Spanish defender. In 2021, Ramos signed with Paris Saint-Germain, but he has been without a club since his contract with the French champions expired last June.
According to local newspapers, Ramos preferred to return to Seville over obtaining a better financial offer that was submitted by Al-Ittihad Club, the Saudi League champion, last season.
“I was excited to go home,” said Ramos, who was born on the outskirts of Seville. “It didn’t make sense to go anywhere else without passing through here.”
Ramos won La Liga five times and the Champions League four times during his 16 seasons at the Bernabéu.
He played 180 matches for Spain, scored 23 goals, and was part of the team that won the European Cup twice (2008 and 2012) and the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Seville occupies the last place in the Spanish League following 4 stages, but it will play the Champions League, as it was drawn in Group Two alongside Arsenal, Eindhoven, and Lens, France.
Sevilla was crowned champion of the European League (Europa League) last season.
