Mumbai: Popular OTT platform Prime Video has released the trailer of its latest fictional crime thriller Amazon Original Series “Bombay Mary Jaan”. Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Kasim Jagmagia and Farhan Akhtar of Excel Media and Entertainments, the story of the series is by S Hussain Saidi. Bombay Mary Jaan is produced by Rencil de Silva and Shujaat Soudagar and directed by Shujaat Soudagar. The series also features actors like Amyra Dasturi, Kay Kay Menon, Avinash Tiwari, Kritika Kamra and Nivedita Bhattacharya under one roof.

The 10-episode Hindi original series will premiere on Prime Video across India and 240 countries on September 14 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and English. It will also be shown in foreign languages such as French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Polish, Latin Spanish, Castilian Spanish, Arabic and Turkish. The series will also be available with subtitles in several foreign languages, including Filipino, Finnish, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Korean, Malay, Norwegian Bokmål, Romanian, Russian, Swedish, Thai, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Czech, Danish, Dutch, and more.

“In the contest between honesty and hunger, hunger always wins. I was honest, but there was fear and hunger.” Opening with the narration, the trailer of Bombay Mary Jaan takes the viewers on a fast and devilish ride through the mean streets of fictional Bombay in 1970, where gang wars, crime and fraud were a common occurrence. Against this backdrop, the series is a heartwarming tale of an honest cop who sees his son choose the path of crime to overcome a life of poverty and struggle. The trailer gives viewers a glimpse of the pain a father feels as he sees his family torn apart by lost morals, greed and corruption.
Talking regarding his role in the upcoming series, KK Menon said, “My character Ismail Kadri is a complex character with many layers. He is an honest cop and a good father who isn’t all that perfect. On one hand, he is committed to eradicate all crime from the city of Bombay, on the other hand, to save his family, he is forced to become a puppet of the city’s crime syndicate. As Ismail fights once morest all odds to avoid succumbing to the evil around him, he sees a family member rise to become the city’s new gang lord. Shujat and Rensil’s vision of the character was so clear and precise that the role was easy for me to write. Thanks to Prime Video, Excel Entertainment, Renzil Shujaat and everyone else for making me a part of such a heart-wrenching story.”
Avinash Tiwari said, “When I first read the script and my character Dara Kadri, I was both surprised and hesitant at the same time. The character I am playing in Bombay Mary Jaan is one that gives very few actors the chance to prove themselves early in their career. The way I see it, it has the villains, then Dara, a young man who believes that you can’t get money and power by working honestly and hard. Hunger is an integral part of his journey from nothing (hunger) to something (provider for his family and people) to everything (power). To become the one everyone bows down to, the one to be feared and respected in equal measure, he must become a monster. As a director, Shujait’s creativity, attention to detail and his ability to inspire and motivate each of us to give our best really enabled me to bring Dara’s character to life in the way he and Renzil had envisioned while writing the script. I am looking forward to the reactions of viewers from India and around the world”.
