(This was the fatal accident in which a young pilot died in the middle of the Tocancipá Autodrome).

As Carlos Andrés Ramírez, president of the Colombian Motorcycle Federation, told EL TIEMPO, everything indicates that the 24-year-old athlete died as a result of the consequences of a fall in the “Motor Curve,” on the left wing of the Tocancipá racetrack.

The pain of the family of Lady Díaz

This Sunday, in Bogotá, close to the deceased athlete organized a vigil in honor of her memory.

This Sunday, several relatives left their messages of pain. Among them, Karol Joya, one of Leydy’s cousins.

“All this that we are feeling is such immense pain. My cousin, my sister, my best friend, my confidante, with her it was crazy, laughing, plans, outings, unique and wonderful moments. Now you are with the angels, you take care of us from up and every time I look at the sky I will remember you with everything that characterizes you: humility, simplicity, belligerent, fighter, beautiful, empowered, entrepreneur, athlete, recochera” (sic), he noted on Facebook, accompanying a heartfelt video with memories together to Leydy.

“I will miss our follies so much (we were five). Now you left us such a big void, you leave us with this great pain… I will love you until the end of my days,” he added.

The suspension of the Honda GP

One of the attendees assured that, in the midst of the anxiety at the Autodrome, the priority was always to suspend the programming.

“There was an announcement from the authorities in front of everyone, and it was taken well. Although there were many crying for Leydy, the brands, the organizers and the pilots were in tune to stop the day, which was the best,” commented Juan León .

Leydy’s body was taken this Sunday around noon to Legal Medicine, where the official opinion on his death will be delivered.

This is the first death that occurs during a valid competition organized by the Colombian Motorcycle Federation at the Tocancipá Autodrome.
