The Steam Deck challenger Ayaneo Kun from Chinese tech company Ayaneo looks to be an impressive one if you prefer to play your PC games portable, but comes at a hefty price tag. There’s a lot going on under the hood of a portable PC console these days, and the specs aren’t bad. For starters, the Ayaneo Kun has an 8.4-inch screen with a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels, which is 1.4 inches larger than the 7-inch and 1280×800 pixels offered by Steam Deck. Ayaneo Kun also relies on an AMD Ryzen 7840U processor with 16GB-64GB of RAM. Depending on the model, you can get between 512GB and 4TB of storage, and with a 75Wh (19,500 mAh) battery, the machine is said to be able to stay awake for up to three hours. Ayaneo Kun runs on Windows as its operating system. In other words, there is no doubt that Ayaneo Kun is a luxury story, which is naturally reflected in the high price tag. The cheapest version of the Chinese Challenger ended up being $1,200. This is the model with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. If you want to move further up the price spectrum, you can check out a version with 64GB of RAM and 4TB of storage. Then it costs around $1950. It gets expensive, and if you want to compare the model to its Steam Deck counterpart, Valve sells the cheaper variant for around $399, while you’ll have to pay around $649 for the more expensive model. However, there are a few ways to get the Ayaneo Kun for $100 less than others. You can do this by joining Ayaneo’s crowdfunding campaign, which is being run via IndieGoGo and kicks off on September 5th.
