(Motorsport-Total.com) – Lukas Tulovic experienced a difficult Moto2 race weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The German knows the track well. Last year he finished second in both races of the Moto2 European Championship.

After the incident on lap 1, Lukas Tulovic worked his way up to 19th place

But in the World Cup, the scenario was different. “I’m struggling with the tires,” said Tulovic following qualifying. “I don’t understand how they behave. The one that should offer less grip gives more, so there is some confusion.”

He attacked from 22nd on the grid. After the first lap, however, the 23-year-old might only be found in 27th place. “I didn’t have a good start, but I still had a great first corner,” said Tulovic. “I quickly realized that quite a few drivers go far.”

“I went in well at Turn 1. I made up a lot of places, but unfortunately I had a contract with my teammate Senna entering Turn 3, which almost sent us both to the bottom.”

“Anyway, I was on the inside when it came to the outside. It’s obviously very annoying for both of us.” Nevertheless, things went ahead followingwards. Tulovic made up places and was already 19th following six laps.

In this position he drove to the finish. “Lukas drove a stable race,” comments IntactGP team boss Jürgen Lingg, “but he was simply too far away and not fast enough for him to be able to close the gap and get into the points on his own.”

Because Tulovic led a group that was regarding five seconds behind the riders in front. “Unfortunately, I had a lot of room to move forward and then drove at my constant pace. It was just as good as that of the drivers in front of me,” he says.

“The collision annoys me all the more, because it cost so much time and places and I have the feeling that I might have easily been in the group in front of me. In terms of pace, it was a solid race and that’s what we have to do now Take the positives with you into the future.”

Teammate Senna Agius, standing in for the injured Darryn Binder, dropped out following a fall.
