It was 1997as the then newly founded Theater association culture scene with the “Man from La Mancha“ brought the first in-house production to the stage. Since then, the annual September production cherished tradition and heart of the cultural program.
This year Nestroy’s “He wants to make a joke‘ on the schedule. A highlight of the old Viennese folk theater and a guarantee for the best entertainment. “It’s regarding the content outbreak from old patterns to pursuit Freedomfollowing unconditional – something that is likely in every human life at some point,” says director Anselm Lipgens.

At the “joke” there is a reunion with many known faces. George Kusztrich for example, the spice shopkeeper plays Zangler, was there in 1997. Franz Schieferwho plays Zangler’s new house boy, has been a member of the September ensemble since 1997.
And Eva Weissenböck was also on the stage in the beginning; then she was Dulcinea, this time she’s playing Miss von Blumenblatt. Her mother, Walburg Weissenböck, can be seen as Zangler’s housekeeper Mrs. Gertrud. 26 years ago she was responsible for founding the cultural scene.
Director Anselm Lipgens is just as loyal to the cultural scene: he has been directing the September productions since 2007.
In the role of the good and solid Weinberl Leopold Dallinger to see, director of the Kitzbühel summer theater for 22 years and known from stage and TV. Plays his apprentice Christopherl Enisa Meindl.

Preview to 2024
For the coming year they are already running preparations: “For 2024 we have three once more as usual in-house productions planned: Two with our amateur theater group AmaKult and our September production with professionals and amateurs together,” says Kulturszene chairperson Irene Künzel.
The year begins in January/February with the first AmaKult production: “The Last of the Fiery Lovers” by Neil Simon, followed in April/May by “Pension Schöller” by Wilhelm Jacoby and Carl Laufs. What in September 2024 on the game schedule of the cultural scene in Kottingbrunn traditionally only revealed at this year’s premiere.
