In an interview with the Innviertler Nachrichten yesterday, fair director Helmut Slezak drew a thoroughly satisfied balance of the first (long) folk festival weekend from Thursday to Sunday.
“In general, one can say that the mood is very good, both among the exhibitors and the visitors. Of course, the good weather and the good forecast for this week also make a significant contribution to this.”

Police praise discipline
It was an “above average quiet first folk festival weekend”, said Thomas Hasenleitner, deputy district police commander on OÖN request. There was only one somewhat rougher mission on Friday night. “The curfew at 3 a.m. was observed with above-average discipline on both Friday and Saturday,” says Hasenleitner. During the folk festival and fair, there is a so-called “PI (Police Inspection) Fair” at the fairgrounds. “Up to 20 officers were on duty during the folk festival, and there will be a few more during the fair,” says Hasenleitner.

From today it will really take place on the exhibition grounds and in the halls. “Everything has been arranged for the exhibitors, who can move into their stands from Monday morning. So things will be busy on the area in the coming days,” says Slezak.
The fair will be opened on Thursday by Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer, and at the same time the folk festival (with free admission) will open its doors once more until Sunday.
- The OÖN will be there as a media partner of the Rieder Messe and will be represented with a booth in Hall 15. Holders of the OÖNcard receive reduced admission. In online advance sales (riedermesse.at) instead of 11.50 euros for 10.50 euros, on site for 11.50 euros instead of 13 euros.
