“With the new knowledge came inner peace.”

Regine Färbinger

A hotelier

Regine Färbinger from the Familien- und Vitalhotel Mühlpointhof in Lofer was also quickly enthusiastic regarding the offer, which falls under the heading of “New Leadership”. Her premise: “Only those who can lead themselves can lead other people.” A lot has changed for the landlady and receptionist since she got to know these modern management methods: “I’ve learned to approach my team more openly and to communicate honestly and appreciatively, while reminding myself of what I want to achieve.”

For her, the quality of appraisal interviews has changed fundamentally because she focuses on what her counterpart needs and what is important to him. For Färbinger it is clear that a nice working atmosphere is not enough. When problems arise, she now resorts to asking four or even five times; only then will she get more detailed answers to work with. The seminar taught her to take her time and pay close attention to the language. “Now I know that someone is genuinely excited regarding their job when they start gushing.” That’s why Färbinger also sent other team members to the happiness training program. “If they’re fine, we’re fine.” And she herself has already received feedback that she has become more at peace with herself, the Pinzgau native is happy to say.

New leadership according to Oliver Haas deals with values, goals and energy gathering

Anna Buchsteiner describes the new leadership according to Oliver Haas, who is going on a seminar tour from Munich, as “enthralling – I mightn’t get enough of it”. She has seen her own strengths and weaknesses as well as the tasks she always shy away from, she says and reports on modules that dealt with values, goals and gathering energy.

As the participants learn to identify and use their inner energy, the attitude changes towards a happier and more fulfilling life – so the theory goes. Buchsteiner: “I now ask my team other questions and have become more curious. Conversations go deeper in order to understand the background. Because the more I try to find out why tasks have not been completed, the more likely I am to get answers that I used to would not have received. For example, that I just speak too quickly with some people.”

For the Seitenalm boss, happiness means helping other people to make them happier. In this way, beliefs might be overturned and questions of meaning answered.

However, Regine Färbinger regrets not having received this knowledge 20 or even 30 years ago. “I’m going to retire in a year. The inputs were incredibly valuable. The level is already extremely high in our hotels. If I don’t blame my employees for the negative, but if we look together at what’s going well and where we have potential, it’s a huge win.” She notices that it changes her to look at people all around with different eyes. “And when we smile at our guests every day, they almost have to smile back because you can’t resist our style. In any case, our main task is to offer everyone a nice holiday, which is easy for us thanks to the new knowledge.”

Anna Buchsteiner likes the meaningfulness of the New Leadership. “Young people are looking for meaningful jobs, they will find them with us. Because in our hotel we create experiences that make children’s eyes light up. We can only do that if everyone can fully immerse themselves in their job – no, in their calling! .” Regine Färbinger adds: “Instead of mumbling regarding the unchangeable in the classic Austrian way, we can take the reins into our own hands every day and literally be the architects of our own fortune.”
