Max Verstappen makes history in Italy! The two-time Formula 1 world champion, he set a new record for consecutive victories following sweeping the Italian Grand Prix, taking his tenth win. In second place came his Red Bull teammate, the Mexican Sergio Pérez, and in third place the Spanish Ferrari driver, Carlos Sainz.
Max Verstappen crossed the line in 1:13:41 and received his corresponding 25 points, plus one point for setting the fastest lap. In total, he now has 364 points so far this season.

“I never thought this would be possible. Today we had to work hard, that’s why it makes it special. I tried to stay patient because I saw that Ferrari had problems with the rear tires, I just had to wait for my moment,” he said following the race.

With his 10 consecutive stages, the Dutchman broke his own achievement of 2022. Verstappen, who has not given up the first place on the podium without interruption since the Miami Grand Prix, also surpassed the record of the German Sebastian Vettel from 10 years ago, when he obtained nine straight wins.

Max Verstappen also claimed his 12th win of the season, with three rounds to go before repeating his own record, set in 2022.

Second place was Sergio Checo Pérez, crossing the finish line 6 seconds following the Dutchman and obtaining 18 points. In total he now has 219 points.

“It’s the maximum we might get today. We lacked top speed. Overtaking Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz was very hard. I hope I can show better form in the remaining races,” said the Mexican.

Carlos Sainz finished third, reaching the finish line 11 seconds following Verstappen and passing his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc from Monegasque. The Spaniard received 15 points and in total accumulates 170 points.

“It’s been really hard. I’ve been pushing the whole race to keep the Red Bulls at bay, but I’ve paid the price on the rear tyres. I’ve managed to finish third, even though I had a tough fight with my teammate. Always it’s fun to compete with Charles”, stressed the Spaniard.

The next Formula 1 championship race will be held on September 17 in Singapore.
