On a daily basis, there are foods that must be avoided at all costs because they increase the risk of having a stroke. So they should be banned!

Each year, more than 140,000 people are victims of a stroke in France according to experts. So there is 1 that occurs every 4 minutes. Alarming figures that can be scary. Also know that several foods favor them.

Alarming figures

The cerebrovascular accident, better known under the name of AVC means the sudden stop of the blood circulation towards the brain. And the least we can say is that the effects are terrible.

If the stroke is taken care of in time, the victim can get out of it. On the other hand, if this is not the case, it can keep terrible sequelae or not survive it. Professor Amarenco, neurologist, has also given more information on the subject.

As reported by our colleagues from Femme Actuelle, he said: “Stroke is one of the most serious diseases that exist, given the consequent disability, both physical and mental« .

Each year, stroke causes the deaths of 18,200 women in France. 1 out of 5 French people and 1 out of 4 French women will have this terrible accident during their lifetime. However, it is possible to avoid it. Especially thanks to the foods you put on your plate.

Thanks to a good diet, you can limit strokes but also other cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and cancers. So be careful not to eat the foods below.

Foods that promote strokes

First of all, know that you have to banish saturated fats of your diet. Consumed in excess, they increase the level of LDL cholesterol in the blood. Thus, the deposition of atherosclerotic plaque arrives in the arteries.

Professor Amarenco told Femme Acutelle that it is recommended “to consume less than 7% of energy intake from saturated fats”. There are therefore several foods that should be limited.

Namely fatty meats, whole dairy products, butter, bacon, coconut oil but also frying products. They must be consumed in moderation at all costs.

Subsequently, the expert also advised to avoid foods like processed meats and red meat. And for good reason, they are too salty, greasy and rich in harmful preservatives.

The neurologist then revealed that you should not eat ham, bacon bits, bacon, sausage, rillettes, sausage, dried meats. For red meat, you should not especially not consume it more than twice a week.

Watch out for salt

Subsequently, Prof. Amarenco advised to do watch out for ultra-processed foods. Indeed, be very careful “with crisps, aperitif cakes, cordons bleus, industrial cakes and biscuits, industrial brioches, sweet desserts made from fruit with added sugars and artificial flavors, chocolate bars, nuggets but also breaded fish”, according to Femme Actuelle.

On a daily basis, know that sugary drinks and alcohol also increase the risk of stroke. The neurologist said: “It is recommended to drink less than a liter of sugary drinks per week”.

This applies to sodas, fruit juices, energy drinks or even flavored waters. For alcohol, it’s a maximum of two glasses a day, and not every day. Finally, there is another food that should not be consumed.

It is salt. Know that this product is available everywhere. However, it is advisable not to eat more than 1.5 grams every day. That represents a pinch and a half of salt.
