Heavy crash at MotoGP in Catalonia, Espargaro triumphed

The world champion and Spielberg winner was in the lead at the Catalonia Grand Prix, the eleventh of 20 races of the season, and was in the lead following curve two, flying off his Ducati in a high arc and shortly followingwards was unluckily run over in the knee area by Brad Binder. It was also a day to forget for Binder, the KTM rider later retired on the third lap with a technical defect. His teammate Jack Miller finished eighth.

Espargaro was second most of the time, then benefited from tire problems at Vinales. Espargaro’s home town of Granollers is just seven kilometers from the track. There was even an Aprilia triple victory in the air, but Martin and Johann Zarco managed to overtake Miguel Oliveira.

In the World Championship standings, Bagnaia is still 50 points ahead of Martin, Binder is fourth. The San Marino Grand Prix will be held in Misano next weekend.
