The Redmi Note 12 and the Galaxy A24 have similar proposals. They are basic intermediaries that dispense with the fifth-generation mobile network and focus on delivering an affordable set, with some interesting features for the user.

Redmi Note 12 4G
As we are talking regarding two more modest devices among the intermediaries, both only feature plastic construction throughout the body. Both Redmi and Galaxy bet on metallic painting on the back, to give a more premium touch to the look.
The Note 12 features a square block with the same color background as the lid. The A24 leaves the cameras arranged individually, like the more expensive models. The Chinese is the thinnest and lightest of the pair, in addition to having IP53 certification, to provide resistance once morest splashes of water and dust.
Samsung Galaxy A24
Xiaomi put a notch in a hole on its cell phone, more modern than the drop layout used by Samsung, in addition to containing an infrared emitter, which turns the device into a remote control for your TV. At least, in terms of security, the two opted for the fingerprint reader on the side, integrated into the power button.
These models offer the possibility to expand the storage, thanks to the triple drawer that comes with a dedicated microSD card slot. Fifth-generation Wi-Fi is present in both, but NFC is only guaranteed in Korean. The technology in the rival depends on the chosen variant. The Galaxy’s Bluetooth 5.3 is also more advanced than the Note 12’s 5.0 version.
With more advantages in design, Redmi takes the lead in the confrontation.

Both arrive with an AMOLED screen accompanied by Full HD + resolution. The duo does not have HDR support to take better advantage of streaming services. Only Redmi has protection once morest scratches, by Gorilla Glass 3.
The Chinese’s 6.67-inch display is slightly larger than the Korean’s 6.5-inch display, in addition to reaching a slightly higher brightness level than the competitor and having more frontal use.
Xiaomi also dared fluidity, by placing a 120 Hz panel, for smoother navigation than the 90 Hz refresh rate used by Samsung.
This is an easy point for the Note 12.

As
These manufacturers saved on the audio part and inserted only a mono speaker in their smartphones. This means that they will not excite when it comes to an immersive experience during movies and music, for example.
The sound power of the duo is good, within the limitations they present. The Galaxy takes a little more care in quality, delivering more bass than the rival, which makes the sound more balanced. At least, both still deliver a physical headphone jack, even if the accessory doesn’t come with the product in the package.
We narrowly give the point to the A24.

System
These handsets come out of the box with Android 13 as the native operating system. Although the Note 12 has a guaranteed future update, it does not reach the useful life promised by the A24 with its four software updates and five years of security packages.
Their interface steals up to 4GB of storage and transfers it to RAM, but don’t expect such a fast experience on both. What helps are the high rates of their displays, to make navigation more fluid. In addition, it is worth noting that none of them are compatible with 5G technology.
Redmi comes with a few less features, but it does not disappoint in the brand’s already traditional customization options. On the other hand, the Galaxy also placed a more streamlined list of functions, but still has some differentials, such as the complete equalizer with Dolby Atmos, support for gestures on the side button, and shortcuts on the Edge Screen.
In this way, Samsung notes the point in the system.

Performance
The Redmi is powered by the Snapdragon 685, once morest the Helio G99 that equips the Galaxy. In this duel between different hardware, which model has the best performance? Our tests indicated problems with both in terms of multitasking. Even so, the Korean was faster in opening apps and closed with five seconds less in total time.
In the benchmarks, we practically had a tie between them, but the A24 was also slightly above the Chinese rival, both in Geekbench and in AnTuTu. As for games, the GPU of both shows only average performance in heavier titles, so don’t expect to run top games with maximum quality and extras activated here.
With a slightly better performance, Samsung takes the point in this regard.

Battery
Both the Note 12 and the A24 did not deviate from the battery standard and bring a battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh. Does this mean they deliver the same autonomy? It’s not like that. In our standardized tests, we saw the Galaxy do better, recording almost 33 hours of runtime, which means rendering regarding four hours more than the Redmi.
When we move on to loading, the scenario changes. The Chinese comes with a 33 W adapter in the package that allows it to charge in just over an hour. The time is much less than the Korean with its 15 W accessory, which needs almost two hours in the socket to complete the process.
Samsung marks for superior autonomy; and Xiaomi scores for the fastest recharge.

We found the two phones to be very similar triple camera sets on paper. That’s because they have a 50 MP main and a 2 MP macro, in addition to an ultrawide that reaches 8 MP on the Redmi, and 5 MP on the Galaxy. And how do they behave in practice?
As the two have more limited hardware, don’t expect them to be able to fully exploit the main sensor. Even so, both achieve good sharpness and colors, with a slightly better HDR on the Korean. This one is also more successful in night shots, by better reducing noise without compromising contrast.
Their ultrawide already show a big drop in sharpness, but even so, the A24 records images with a superior dynamic range. Finally, their macro is the weakest of the set and suffers from low resolution and lack of autofocus.
It’s another point for Samsung.

The duo’s camcorder is limited to Full HD videos at 30 fps with the main and ultrawide cameras. The focus pleases both, but the Galaxy delivers the best image and sound capture quality. Not to mention that the optical stabilization of the Korean allows you to deal better with the shakes than the electronics present in the Redmi.
Therefore, the A24 takes another point.

Their front camera has a resolution of 13 MP. Smartphones capture good selfies during the day and have a portrait mode as expected. Still, the Galaxy is a little higher on the level of detail. But the great highlight of the A24 is in the night mode, which takes good quality photos without the blurred look, as in the Redmi. Too bad both are restricted to Full HD footage at 30fps on the front too.
Samsung widens the scoreboard.

The two devices landed in the Brazilian market officially. The Redmi Note 12 was available for a suggested price of BRL 2,000, slightly more expensive than the BRL 1,900 charged at the launch of the Galaxy A24. In the current market, Xiaomi’s model can be found closer to R$ 1,000 than Samsung’s, even if the difference is not that big between them.
As any economy has an impact on the consumer’s pocket, the Chinese closes the duel with the last point.

Done
The clash between basic intermediaries from Xiaomi and Samsung ended with a Korean victory. The Galaxy A24 proved to be more complete by delivering higher quality sound, a system with longer updates, better multitasking performance, a battery that lasts longer and a superior set of cameras in rear photos, videos and selfies.
On the other hand, it was left for the Redmi Note 12 to attract the public that wants a more modern, thin and light design, with resistance to dust and splashes, in addition to its larger and more fluid screen, and its faster loading.
Chinese also tends to hurt the consumer’s pocket less, which makes it a more affordable option on the market. But it’s important to follow up if there really isn’t a better offer from the competitor at the time of purchase, or put it in the balance if it pays to buy the Korean, even if you have to shell out a little more.
RESULT
Redmi Note 12 4G: 4 POINTS
More resistant, thinner and lighter design Larger screen with 120 Hz rate Battery with shorter recharge time Lowest price in the current Brazilian market
Samsung Galaxy A24: 7 POINTS
