Stay Safe on Qatar Roads: New Radar System Targets Mobile Phone Use and Seat Belt Violations

2023-09-02 17:34:17

Doha: Fines will be levied for traffic violations caught on automated radar in Qatar from tomorrow. Radars are installed to target those who use mobile phones while driving and those who do not wear seat belts.

With this, if you are not careful when you go out with your vehicle from tomorrow, the key will be empty. Not only if the mobile phone is held in the hand, but even if the phone is touched on the dash board, the camera will catch it. Using the mobile phone placed on the dash body of the car or otherwise through the head phone or loudspeaker is not considered a violation of the law.

Same is the case with the dashboard screen. It can be used for navigation but can be disabled by touching the screen while driving or adjusting the navigation. Automated radars will accurately capture those who are not wearing seat belts.

Violations are fined 500 Qatari Riyals. They work 24 hours a day. Violations of the law, day and night alike, will be precisely on the radar. These cameras have been working since 27th of last month. But the fine will start from tomorrow.
