The queues have lengthened on the A8 motorway, between Frasnes and Tournai. This Saturday, shortly following noon, the vehicles remained stationary. Some motorists even left their vehicles to try to understand what was going on. A driver, stuck in traffic jams, testifies: “A vehicle broke down near Melles (in the entity of Tournai). As the motorway is currently under construction and traffic is reduced to a single lane, everything is blocked, ”comments Estaimpuisien. “We left Frasnes at noon and we are at a complete standstill”.

The broken down vehicle might only be evacuated by a tow truck. She still had to be able to access the premises, which the works did not facilitate. In the meantime, authorities were encouraging motorists to avoid the area as much as possible. The highway police also went to the scene to remedy the situation.
