The chase took place on September 1, 2023, when a stolen vehicle was reported. “The vehicle was reported and around 1:40 a.m. the Brussels West police zone (Jette/Ganshoren/Koekelberg/Sint-Jans-Molenbeek/Sint-Agatha-Berchem) announced that they had found the vehicle. The driver immediately fled and the pursuit was launched”, explained the spokesperson for the prosecution, Willemien Baert, at Soir.
“Two police cars positioned themselves on the road to block the path of the vehicle, but the driver simply drove through this roadblock and damaged the two police cars in the process,” she continued. These were not the only cars that were damaged: other cars “were hit and damaged”.
“The stolen vehicle was finally immobilized on the Place Surlet de Chokier”, continues the spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor’s Office. “There were two people in the vehicle: the passenger managed to flee on foot, but the driver of the car was arrested by the police forces on the spot”.
