Halton Regional Police received information regarding 6:15 a.m. Wednesday morning that boxes full of bees had fallen onto the road. Then by the time the police reached the spot, bees were spread everywhere in the surrounding area. Immediately alert was given to the residents and efforts were started to catch the bee swarm. It is not yet clear how so many bee boxes fell from the truck.

The preliminary conclusion of the police is that the driver did not know that the door of the truck had been left open. Halton Police later clarified in a Twitter post that around 5 million bees that fell from the truck were captured with the help of beekeepers and the situation calmed down. Although there is no cause for fear at the moment, the police warned the residents and passengers to close the windows of their houses and vehicles and remain vigilant for a few more days.
