London: Mohamed Al Fayed (94), who was the Egyptian billionaire and owner of the famous Harrod department store, died. Al Fayed is also the father of Dodi, who died in a car accident with Princess Diana in 1997. His death was confirmed by family members.

Al Fayed’s death comes just before the 26th anniversary of the deaths of Princess Diana and Dodi. On August 31, 1997, Dodi and Diana died in a car accident while trying to escape from the paparazzi in Paris. Al Fayed had raised the allegation that the British royal family was behind the deaths of Dodi and Diana and had fought a legal battle for ten years in this regard.

Al Fayed claimed that Diana was pregnant with Dodi’s child at the time of her death. But there was no evidence to support this. Dodi alleged that Queen Elizabeth’s husband, Prince Philip, ordered the British Security Service to kill Diana to prevent Diana from marrying a Muslim man and giving birth to his child.

Mohammed Al Fayed was born in Alexandria, Egypt, the son of a school teacher. He immigrated to Britain in the 1970s and bought the Paris Ritz Hotel in 1979 with his brother Ali. In 1985, they also acquired Harrods. Although Al Fayed had lived in Britain for decades, he was never granted British citizenship. He then threatened to go to France. This was followed by the U.K. He was awarded the highest civilian honor. In 2010, he sold Harrods to Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund.
