Fraudsters are also talking to people who are interested in renting a house through phone and chat. Scammers ask for a deposit of $1,800 (Rs. 1.48 lakh). Many have also handed over the deposit amount. The fraudsters proceeded with the excuse that the tenants who are currently living in this house are affected by covid and therefore should not go there directly for the time being. It was revealed when some people who had doubts regarding this came here to understand things accurately.
At present, the police department has handed over the case to the Property and Financial Crimes Unit. But authorities say many of the depositors are outside the US, making it difficult to trace them. The warning is that before confirming the contract online and handing over the money, try to see and see directly what the situation is.
