The Coteaux de la Citadelle Nocturne, which is usually held every first Saturday in October, will once more not take place this year in Liège, for the fourth time in a row. Mobility problems are once more mentioned by the City, which confirms the information published Friday morning on the Liège news site Todayinliege.be.

”The situation in terms of mobility has not changed compared to last year, there will be no edition of the Coteaux this year either. It remains complicated in the historic heart to access hospitals, so we are not in the possibility of organizing it in good conditions”, explains the City on Friday morning, referring to the construction site of the tram in progress.

Emergency vehicles

Canceled for the first time in 2020 due to restrictions linked to the health crisis caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Coteaux de la Citadelle nightlife did not take place either in 2021 and in 2022, the passage of vehicles from relief to the two hospitals of the Citadel and MontLégia proved to be difficult. The event normally brings together more than 35,000 people who come to admire the famous stairs of the Bueren mountain illuminated by 22,000 candles and attend the many musical and theatrical events, all in a magical setting. The Coteaux de la Citadelle Nocturne ended with a big fireworks display at the end of the evening on the Saint-Léonard esplanade.
