The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) reminded customers Friday to review changes to public transportation service in New York City, the Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, Access-A-Ride and tunnels. and bridges. NEW YORK — As the Labor Day holiday weekend kicks off, New York public transit riders will see some changes to service.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) reminded customers Friday to review changes to New York City public transportation service, the Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, Access-A-Ride and tunnels and bridges.

The trains are adding some early release services to help New Yorkers with their vacation travel.

Service details for each agency are below:

Long Island Rail Road

The LIRR will operate two early departure trains on Friday, September 1 to help customers get an early start to the holiday weekend, one at the Ronkonkoma branch and one at the Babylon branch.

At 2:55 pm train from Penn Station to Ronkonkoma. (Starting September 5, as part of the fall schedule change, this train will run regularly Monday through Friday.) At 2:38 pm from Penn Station to Babylon, making all the local Babylon stops. On Saturday, September 2, the LIRR will operate normal Saturday hours. On Sunday, September 3, the LIRR will operate on a Saturday schedule. On Monday, September 5, the LIRR will operate on a weekend/holiday schedule and the Montauk Branch trains will operate on a Sunday schedule. A highlight: The 1:17 pm, 4:18 pm, 6:22 pm and 8:22 pm train times for the Montauk to Jamaica trains, and the 3:25 pm train from Southampton to Jamaica, normally Scheduled to run on Sundays, it will run Monday along with additional services from Hamptons and Montauk. On Tuesday, September 6, the 7:18 am train from Montauk to Hunterspoint Ave, which usually runs on Mondays in the summer, is scheduled to run Tuesday for those returning to New York City following the long holiday weekend. .

Metro-North Railroad

Metro-North will have service adjustments on the Hudson East and West lines for Labor Day weekend.

Hudson Line

On the Hudson Line, Metro-North Railroad will operate three early-departure trains on Friday, September 1, to allow customers an early start on the holiday weekend.

1:19 pm: The train from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie will stop at Harlem-125 St, will operate express to Croton-Harmon and make all stops to Poughkeepsie except Manitou. 1:51 pm: The train from Grand Central will stop at Harlem-125 St and make all stops to Croton-Harmon. Due to lower ridership in the late followingnoon, the 5:30 pm and 6:11 pm trains to Poughkeepsie will not run.

Hudson Rail Link buses they will arrive at 1:50 pm early departure train at Spuyten Duyvil and Riverdale for their neighborhood routes. Metro-North’s East of Hudson lines will operate a normal Saturday schedule on Saturday, September 2, and a Sunday schedule on both Sunday, September 3, and Labor Day, Monday, September 4. Normal weekday service resumes on Tuesday, September 5.

Pascack Valley Line

On Friday, September 1, customers traveling on the 5:25 pm connecting train from New York Penn Station to Secaucus Junction to board the 5:43 pm train

The Pascack Valley Line train to Spring Valley, arriving at 6:26 pm, please note that the connecting train will leave New York Penn Station 5 minutes earlier, at 5:20 pm instead of at 5:25 p.m.

Port Jervis Line

Metro-North will operate normal hours on the Port Jervis Line on Friday, September 1. On Monday, September 4, an additional train leaves Port Jervis at 4:05 pm, making all stops through Suffern and then express to Secaucus Junction. and Hoboken, arriving in Hoboken at 6:24 p.m., with a connecting train at Secaucus Junction to New York Penn Station arriving at 6:33 p.m.

MTA Bridges and Tunnels

Routine maintenance and construction at all MTA bridge and tunnel crossings ceased at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 31.

Daytime scheduled maintenance requiring full lane closures will be suspended beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, through 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5.

Critical roadwork may be permitted during night hours at times when traffic permits. Highway availability will be maintained during peak travel hours.

New York City Transportation

The M line is suspended to carry out switch replacement work. M service will resume at 5:00 am on Tuesday, September 5, only between Middle Village-Metropolitan Av and 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr. M service between Forest Hills–71 Av and 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr remains suspended due to ongoing track replacement work at the 63rd St Tunnel.

As a reminder, the F trains run on the E line in both directions between Jackson Hts-Roosevelt Av and 5 Av/53 St, resuming service at 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr. A special F shuttle runs every 20 minutes between 21 St-Queensbridge and Lexington Av/63 St with a stop at Roosevelt Island.

During Labor Day weekend, on Saturdays and Sundays, the subway will operate normal weekend hours. On Labor Day, the subway will operate on a Sunday schedule. That means there will be no service on the B, W and Z trains, the 6 or 7 express trains, or the F express trains in Brooklyn.

New York City buses will operate on a regular weekend schedule on Saturdays and Sundays. On Labor Day, buses will run on Sunday hours.
