The Lusca Sub-Court decided to release the 5 Egyptians detained in the Zambia plane case, according to what was reported by the Middle East News Agency, quoting the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation.
The Zambian authorities announced, regarding two weeks ago, that they had seized a private plane carrying 5.6 million dollars in cash, 602 gold coins, and five guns with 126 bullets.
The Director General of Zambia’s Narcotics Control Authority, Nason Banda, told reporters that the plane coming from Cairo, carrying “dangerous goods”, landed Monday, August 14, at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka.
He added: “The plane was seized, and another plane belonging to a local airline, and the funds were entrusted to the Bank of Zambia pending the outcome of the investigation.”
After the accident, an informed Egyptian source revealed to the Middle East News Agency that “the plane that caused a lot of confusion regarding its departure from Cairo Airport towards Zambia during the last hours, is a private plane that landed at Cairo Airport (transit) earlier and was subjected to inspection.”
The source stressed that “it was confirmed that the plane met all safety and security rules that are applied at the highest levels within all Egyptian airports and ports.”
He stressed that “the plane does not carry Egyptian nationality in the first place.”
