Beyond the damage of 4,000 euros, it is above all a deep emotional sadness that drives the musician. The Mons/Quévy police cannot do much to help him. In the absence of surveillance cameras and witnesses, his field of action is very limited.
It is therefore with bitterness and sadness that Charles Christiaens, animator at MARS and bassist of the Morning Mood, told us regarding his misadventure, which occurred on Tuesday. “With my Morning Mood group, we had the opportunity to go to two schools on Tuesday morning to bring the students back to school. I then had to go to Mons to follow the meeting of Mons Performing Arts facilitators of which I am a part. Throughout this meeting, I kept an eye on my vehicle which was parked not far from the entrance to the “Le Manège” theatre. Despite everything, someone managed to force the lock of my vehicle and then steal the three covers, including my music equipment, which were there”, he says.
A misadventure whose damage amounts to 4,000 euros. Beyond the financial aspect, it is above all an emotional loss that the bassist of Morning Mood must deplore. “My bass was practically custom-made. I bought it for 600 euros at the time before paying more than 1,000 euros to put it to my taste. It was with her that I played my first and my last music. It is therefore truly a part of me that is leaving with this flight”, continues Charles Christiaens. On top of that, several concert dates are on the horizon for the band. It is therefore with the material of another that the bassist will have to shine…
“A friend present at the scene immediately contacted the police zone. Unfortunately, the street does not have a surveillance camera. So the police can’t do much. I made an appointment to file a complaint, but I have little hope of finding my equipment,” regrets Charles. The Mons police zone which confirms that no camera is in the street of the theater. “We have 32 cameras in the hypercentre and six others in Jemappes, Cuesmes and Havré. Unfortunately, the street in question is not covered. In this type of case, we regularly direct our investigations to resale stores to eventually find the trace of the thief. Apart from that, it is difficult to orient our investigation without elements”, confides the police zone of Mons / Quévy.
In an attempt to help him, several friends of the bassist have set up a kitty to partially reimburse the loss of the flight. “I also wrote a Facebook post that quickly went viral. The shares have multiplied, I did not expect it at all. Omega Music also responded immediately to provide me with the purchase invoices. People have really shown solidarity, it warms my heart,” concludes Charles Christiaens.
