Serious problems revealed by the audit
The new general director of the BBL, Giancarlo Sergi, took office on September 1, 2022. His appointment followed an audit which at the end of October 2021 revealed serious problems within the BBL.
The Foundation Board then decided to review the governance and create a position of general manager. His role: to oversee the entire structure and supervise the number one of the BBL, the artistic director Gil Roman, who has been accused of having an angry, sometimes abusive temperament.
“These years spent at BBL have been among the most rewarding of my career. I have had the privilege of working with incredible talents and seeing our company touch the hearts of so many people around the world”, says Solange Peters, quoted in the statement, referring to “new challenges”.
