Baz Luhrmann tipped for Rapunzel
At the heart of the first rumors circulating in Hollywood: Rapunzel. According to Daniel Richtman, a behind-the-scenes specialist from major studios, Disney is trying to convince Baz Luhrmann (Elvis, Moulin Rouge, The Great Gatsby) to adapt the Grimm brothers’ tale. The role of the young woman with endless hair would be offered to Florence Pugh, the star of the Hawkeye series currently playing Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. To play Flynn Rider, Zachary Levi (Shazam!) has already publicly applied.
Lupita Nyong’o, a princess facing a frog
Rapunzel is not the only project mentioned in the shade of the studio with big round ears. For The Princess and the Frog, Lupita Nyong’o would be insistently approached to play Tiana. This would not be surprising: she has already worked a lot with Disney, whether to dub The Jungle Book, or take a role in the two Black Panthers or in the last three Star Wars.
Jennifer Lawrence, Tinker Bell instead of Reese Witherspoon
